Liu Xiaobo – RIP

RIP Liu Xiaobo, today (July 13th, 2020) is the anniversary of his death. Liu Xiaobo was one of the writers who drafted the CHARTER 08 that called for adjustments to the government, not to over throw the Chinese Communist Party. For this, he was sentenced to 11 years in jail in 2009. He made global headlines in December 2010, when he won the Nobel Peace Prize for said writings and the Charter 08. The regime refused him to attend the ceremony in Norway and so a symbolic empty chair sat in his place. However, as his health continued to deteriorate in prison, the regime further refused to release him on to medical parole. He died in prison on July 13th, 2017 due to liver cancer. RIP.
